London II

We all have our own preferences but when it comes to shopping, London is my favourite. In the field of high fashion, the Parisian ‘Golden Triangle’ surely is a tough competition, and the same applies to Brera in Milan. But in terms of street fashion, London wins the game for me.

I started my London shopping spree quite classically: by walking through Oxford Street – Regent Street – Old and New Bond Street, followed by Selfridge & Co., Harrods and Harvey Nichols (I swear I could spend all day there… My boyfriend gets eye twitching when I just mention HN´s name now… :-D). It was the first time I went to the charming district of Notting Hill, known (except for the movie) for its markets, vintage shops and flea markets. Last but not least was lovely Covent Garden, I planned to buy some Christmas gifts there but didn´t really get what I wanted…


Každý máme své preference, ale pokud jde o nákupy, málokteré město se podle mě vyrovná Londýnu. V oblasti high-fashion (má tenhle výraz český ekvivalent?) má samozřejmě Londýn těžkou konkurenci v pařížském “zlatém trojúhelníku”, i milánská Brera má v tomhle ohledu něco do sebe. Ale co se týče street-fashion (že by česky “móda ulice”? Jen ne “pouliční móda”… :-D), myslím, že Londýn prostě vede.

Nákupy v Londýně jsem začala klasicky, prošla jsem si Oxford Street – Regent Street – Old a New Bond Street. A protože jsem to tentokrát vzala z gruntu, následovaly obchodní domy Selfridge & Co., Harrods a Harvey Nichols, kde bych byla schopná strávit snad celý den (a mému příteli se ještě teď jen při vyslovení názvu objevuje tik v oku… :-D). Poprvé jsem se vydala do půvabné čtvrti Notting Hill, známé (kromě filmu) svými trhy, blešáky a vintage obchody. A na závěr Covent Garden, kde jsem plánovala pořídit nějaké ty vánoční dárky, ale nakonec jsem bohužel nenašla, co jsem sháněla.
